After awkward reports surfaced this morning in the Boston Globe about discrepancies in what Romney has said about when he left Bain and what Bain’s SEC filings say, the Romney campaign apparently “leaked” a few details about the VP selection process to Matt Drudge. Earlier the headline on the Drudge Report was that Romney’s VP frontrunner was a “surprise name”; now Drudge reports in usual Drudge fashion that “CONDI EMERGES AS FRONTRUNNER."
But a lot of people in the media aren’t buying it, and supposedly several Romney operatives have quietly said that Drudge’s report isn’t quite reflective of reality. It’s true that last week Ann Romney said that her husband was considering a woman, and Rice is very popular with the Republican base, but choosing her would be the complicated shock-story that the Romney campaign simply doesn’t want.
So Bain attacks scared Romney camp enough to pull out big distraction w/Condi as veep. Two more bad news cycles they will be leaking Trump.

1. Condi will not be VP. 2. Romney using DRUDGE as a distraction. 3. Everyone is falling for it.

Email from a friend, “They might be Portman stupid, but they’re not Condi stupid. Not happening.”

Top Romney source tells me "no Condi." More: Romney wants someone more comfortable in 'attack dog' mode

I hear a few UT retreat attendees (donors, etc.) are stirring Condi buzz. Per people I trust, it's not Boston-driven
