BYU Professor J. Spencer Fluhman Writes Op-Ed for New York Times, “Why We Fear Mormons”

On Sunday the New York Times published an op-ed by BYU professor J. Spencer Fluhman titled, “Why We Fear Mormons.” Fluhman is currently an assistant professor in the History department, although until last year he worked in the BYU Religion department. Fluhman teaches classes on Mormon history, American religious history, the Doctrine & Covenants, and other topics. He is the author of a forthcoming book, ‘A Peculiar People’: Anti-Mormonism and the Making of Religion in 19th-Century America.

From the article’s URL it seems that a previous or working title of the article may have been, “Anti-Mormonism: Past and Present.”
